Maine Black Bears Sled Hockey Program

Dear Keith / Lisa,

My name is Jeff Labbe and I work in the Portland call center as a CSR.  I wanted to write you a letter of thanks on many levels. I play for the Maine Sled Hockey Pirates (http://www.mainesledhockey.org) as their Goalie, and I wanted you to know what your sponsorship dollars are going to. I am an able-bodied person playing along side disabled people on this sled hockey team and it has been the best team experience I have ever been a part of.

The experience I’ve had with this team has been very enlightening on many levels and I have a much deeper appreciation for people with disabilities and their way of life.  I can definitely see why Time Warner Cable would be associated with such a great group of guys and the cause they serve.  This team has been a major part of forming a larger league with teams from New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. This league also has planted the seed for a similar league that may be starting out west. This team and this league has demonstrated to me and has brought to light why people with disabilities and Maine Sled Hockey Pirate's Goalie Jeff Labbeable-bodied people can easily work together to achieve great achievement and goals. This thinking easily transitions into the workplace.

I, on a personal level, have had many great experiences with this team and many long lasting memories and friendships have been made.  I find myself in awe of some of the skills and talents they have. These are things I can’t do as an able-bodied person, and couldn’t even begin to try. In this hockey league the best players are mostly double amputees, and paraplegics. This experience has made me a better person, and I have Time Warner Cable to thank for that.

In closing, I just want to say that things like this make me even more proud to be a Time Warner Cable employee. So thank you for giving me, and this team an opportunity to do what we do and that would be to bring able-bodied people and disabled people together to have a great time with a great sport.

Thanks for Everything,

Jeff Labbe
