Maine Black Bears Sled Hockey Program

The brilliant sun and warm temperatures set a perfect stage for the 2005 Crackers Golf Tournament on Monday, October 3rd at the Woodlands Country Club. This year, the Maine Sled Hockey Program was the beneficiary of the tournament.

The Portland Sled Hockey Pirates were well-represented in the event with Mike Geary heading up a trio including his friends Mike Israelsen and Dan McCarthy. Dave Dittmer brought along Dave Means, Head Coach of the Falmouth High School Women's Team, and Dan Sousa and Jim "Sparky" Sanders paired up. All three of our teams played some very, very good golf. (Coaches note:  I hope this translates to great performance on the ice too!)

Additional Maine Sled Hockey players and supporters showed up for the barbeque dinner. Pete and Wyndee Grosso arrived with daughters Olivia and Chloe, Brett Goodnow and Brett Jr. energized the scene, T-Man Tim Blanchette rolled in, and old friend Andy Moore came with his lovely bride Karen. Everyone enjoyed the ribs, chicken, corn and strawberry shortcake.

All in all, a great day.

The Maine Sled Hockey Program would like to thank the Portland Pirates and all the tournament sponsors and players, and a special thanks goes to the Maine players and their families who turned out and supported the program with their time, energy, and financial commitment.
