UNH/NEP provides opportunity for Maine and Pennsylvania to meet at the Whit The UNH/Northeast Passage Wildcats will be putting on a sled hockey exhibition between periods on the University of Vermont/University of New Hampshire college hockey game on Friday, January 7 at the Whittemore Center in Durham, NH. The sled hockey Wildcats' opponent will quite appropriately be the newly formed team from Burlington, Vermont, the Vermont Sled Cats. To augment the fledgling Vermont crew, several players from the Pennsylvania Center-Pedes will make the long trip north. The trip to the UNH campus has multiple purposes for PA. In addition to skating in the exhibition game, PA will be playing their Prudential Northeast Sled Hockey League opponents the UNH/NEP Wildcats in non-league action the following Sunday morning. The Portland Sled Hockey Pirates from Maine will also head to the Whittemore Center Sunday morning to give Pennsylvania an additional game. In action at the War at the Whit Sled Hockey Tournament last year, the Center-Pedes handed Maine what turned out to be their only loss in an otherwise perfect season. The PA/NH game is scheduled for 9:00A and the PA/ME game is schedule for 10:00A. There is an academic reason for the Center-Pedes trip too. Several of the PA players will be attending college next year and are considering UNH. The players hope to get to see the campus and learn more about the programs that UNH has to offer. For more information on the weekend's events contact Tom Carr, NEP/UNH Wildcats Coach, at 603-862-0070.
