Dan Sousa of the Portland Pirates scored early in the first period with a turnaround shot to the top corner and after that the action was end to end with both Pirates tender Jeff Labbe and Bugs goalie Zach Jackson registering great saves. Pennsylvania fought hard to fight back in the second period but despite their fast paced hard hitting offense the score remained 1 to 0. The third period was a dogfight. Maine was clearly tiring with a short bench but somehow managed to keep fighting. Jim Leatherman was determined to push the pace, dishing out several bone splitting, albeit clean, well-placed hits. Just when the crowd thought it would be a win for Maine, Josh Moran battled for the rebound and scored to tie the game with a minute to play. The game ended in a 1-1 tie with both teams playing solid hockey and their goalies keeping their teams in it till the end. (Game Photos courtesy of Karen Moore)
